White Diamonds arrived in 1991 as Elizabeth Taylor's second fragrance, following the 1987 debut of Passion. Taylor reportedly involved herself deeply in the formulation process, supervising from initial concept through final production, treating each launch as a personal statement rather than a licensing exercise. White Diamonds was designed to deliver immediately perceptible florality, with aldehydes providing the sparkling top notes that gave the scent its opening impact. The composition balanced classic perfumery ingredients with contemporary sensibilities, creating something that felt both timeless and of-the-moment.
