The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Yes I Am Collector Edition from Cacharel is a red animal print bottle that means business. The collector's edition repeats that same beloved composition, called "Spicy Cremoso" by its creators, now housed in a bold, eye-catching vessel that commands attention on any vanity. Perfumers Christophe Raynaud and Honorine Blanc built this fragrance around a Chai Latte drink. Not literally poured into the bottle, but translated: the warm, spiced creaminess of a beverage that smells like comfort and costs nothing at a coffee cart. The brief was to capture a woman who is bold, glamorous, and independent, which sounds like a tagline, but in Cacharel's hands it reads as a declaration of intent. The name says it all. Yes I Am. Not asking permission. Not softening the edges.
What makes this composition work is the cardamom milk accord. Here, cardamom is drawn into a creamy milk base that changes everything. The spice doesn't cut. It melts. The Chai Latte inspiration is the structural backbone. Raspberry and mandarin orange open bright and fruity, almost effervescent, like the first sip of something cold before the hot liquid arrives. Then the ginger flower and cardamom warm through, settling into gardenia and jasmine that keep the florals present but don't let them dominate.
The evolution
The opening is a surprise. Raspberry and mandarin orange arrive bright and tart, almost juicy, with bergamot and lemon lifting the top. It reads more like a fruity fragrance than a spicy cream. The citrus doesn't wait, it pops immediately, sharp and lively against the sweetness waiting below. Then the hand-off. The fruity brightness retreats as cardamom and ginger flower step forward, warming the composition. Gardenia and jasmine arrive in the heart, but they're softened by amber and orange blossom, the florals are present without being loud. The Chai Latte character begins to emerge. The drydown is where this lives. Milk and caramel blend into vanilla and benzoin, with sandalwood and amberwood providing the creamy, woody base that extends the wear. Licorice and coumarin add a subtle anise-like depth that most people either love or notice once and forget.
Cultural impact
Yes I Am Collector Edition joins a line that began with the original Yes I Am, adding a collector's bottle to a fragrance that already had its following. The Chai Latte inspiration, translating a warm, spiced, creamy beverage into a wearable composition, is what makes this one stand out. The "Spicy Cremoso" concept (cardamom milk) is distinctive, and the red animal print bottle ensures it stands out on any shelf. Cacharel has always understood that its audience wants fragrance to feel personal without feeling exclusive.
