The beginning
Cyrus arrived as part of Yves de Sistelle's catalog of aromatic compositions for men, a French house with a growing range of masculine releases. The composition carries a regal weight without abandoning wearability, threading the needle between presence and approachability. This is an aromatic fougere in the classical mold, built around a sharp opening of bergamot and pineapple before pulling into a resinous, woody heart. The opening has that crisp, almost bitter citrus snap of bergamot cut by the juicy sweetness of pineapple, a combination that feels both nostalgic and modern in the way it lands on skin. As those top notes soften, the fragrance doesn't so much fade as settle, gradually trading its brightness for depth.
What makes Cyrus interesting is the tension between its tropical fruit and its coniferous backbone. Pineapple and pink pepper up top. Pine needles in the middle. It's a strange handshake, sweet fruit meeting evergreen resin, and the result has a kind of confident oddness to it. The evolution
The first twenty minutes belong to pineapple and bergamot, bright and almost confectionary, with pink pepper crackling underneath like static.
