Why it exists.
The beginning
Pêche Chyprée emerged from Tsovak Voskanian's 2021 exploration of how fruit could inhabit classical perfumery without dissolving into confection. Drawing from Armenian botanical traditions, wild peach groves, native oakmoss, the Yerevan-based perfumer built a structure that refuses easy categorization: too rooted for mainstream fruity compositions, too juicy for traditional chypre. The title itself signals this tension, a French genre made personal through Armenian terroir.
The peach-chypre pairing is structurally unusual. Chypre traditionally suppresses fruit through its bitter oakmoss and bergamot foundation. Here, Voskanian lets the peach dominate the opening, using the citrus and green heart notes as scaffolding rather than opposition. The oakmoss and cedarwood arrive late, pulling the sweetness downward into something earthier, not fighting the fruit but redirecting it. This inversion creates a fragrance that reads as both fruity and sophisticated, appealing to younger and older audiences simultaneously.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately with peach sweetness, sun-ripened, almost aggressive. Blood orange and bergamot add brightness without restraint, creating a citrus-peach combination that feels almost effervescent. Around 20 minutes in, the clary sage and geranium introduce a green, slightly medicinal counterpoint. Rose arrives quietly, adding complexity without sweetness. The tobacco remains subtle, more aromatic presence than statement. Then the base takes over: oakmoss asserting its essential chypre character, earthy, forest-floor, slightly bitter. Cedarwood and patchouli pull the sweetness down into the drydown. Ambergris provides warmth that lingers. By hour 8, what remains is a mossy-woody ghost with peach barely detectable on skin. On fabric, it holds longer, a quiet echo of the initial burst.

Pêche Chyprée occupies an unusual position in niche perfumery, fruit-forward without chasing trends, classical in structure without nostalgia. The Armenian artisanal angle appeals to collectors seeking genuine heritage over marketing narratives.
