The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In October 2008, Tous introduced In Heaven Her. The brand commissioned Vincent Schaller to compose a fruity-floral. Schaller built it around bright top notes and a powdery floral heart. The composition opens with an immediate burst of sweetness from red berries and pineapple, accented by citrus notes that keep the opening lively. As the scent develops, the floral heart emerges, blending lilac, white peony, tiare flower, and blue freesia into the fruit. The powdery quality of the florals creates a smooth transition from the bright beginning, while the base notes of vanilla and sandalwood provide a warm foundation that lingers on the skin.
The structure here is deceptively simple. Five top notes, red berries, pineapple, apple, lemon, bergamot, create an immediate sweetness. The heart adds complexity without weight: lilac, white peony, tiare flower, and blue freesia. The composition moves from the initial fruit-forward opening through a transitional phase where the florals become more prominent. Vanilla and sandalwood anchor the drydown, providing a smooth finish that completes the fragrance journey. Each phase of the scent builds on the previous one, creating a cohesive experience from start to finish.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately with red berries and pineapple. Bright. The bergamot and lemon provide citrus accents. The fruit remains present through the early wear, maintaining its presence before the heart notes begin to emerge more fully. Around this transition, lilac and peony become more noticeable. The fruit doesn't disappear but becomes less dominant as the powdery florals take on a greater role in the composition. The heart develops further with tiare and freesia layering into the existing blend. The base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, cedar, and musk arrive together, creating a warm foundation. Vanilla and cedar become more prominent as the final traces develop on skin.
Cultural impact
Tous In Heaven Her enters a market of fruity-floral fragrances. Since its launch, the fragrance has found its audience among younger wearers and those seeking an accessible introduction to the fruity-floral category. The brand positions this scent as an everyday luxury. The fragrance offers restraint in its projection, working well in professional and casual settings alike. This approach reflects a preference for personal, close-to-skin scents that don't overwhelm.
