The House of Tous traces its roots to 1920, when Salvador Tous Blavi and his wife Teresa Ponsa Mas established their jewelry workshop in the Catalonia region of Spain. The company emerged from the tradition of Catalan craftsmanship, with Salvador initially working as a watchmaker before the couple pivoted toward jewelry design. Teresa reportedly brought a keen eye for aesthetics that shaped the brand's distinctive visual language from its earliest days. The teddy bear logo, one of the most recognizable symbols in Spanish luxury goods, reportedly originated from a personal anecdote involving the couple's early business struggles and a broken watch mechanism. Rather than abandoning their vision, they pivoted successfully into jewelry, building a brand that would span more than a century and three generations of family leadership. The expansion into fragrance occurred several decades after the jewelry business had firmly established itself, allowing the company to leverage its existing reputation for quality craftsmanship. Today, the brand maintains its headquarters in Igualada, a city in the Barcelona province that has been central to the family's operations since the beginning.
