The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Benoist Lapouza designed Les Colognes Concentrées in 2016 as Tous's answer to the everyday fragrance question. The brand's jewelry-house roots taught them that precious materials don't need to be loud to make an impression. Lapouza translated that philosophy into a concentrated cologne, accessible enough for daily wear, but built to linger rather than vanish. The feminine edition takes the brand's signature floral musky character and distills it into something that feels like a gift rather than a statement.
The choice of rose water and jasmine as the heart is deliberate. Both are materials that behave differently depending on the wearer, rose water reads sweeter on some skin, more austere on others. Jasmine brings its characteristic indolic warmth, the part of jasmine that smells like the flower itself rather than a synthetic approximation. Together with peony at the top and a musk-sandalwood base, the composition avoids the sharp linear trajectory most colognes like to claim. Instead, it circulates. It stays close. The sandalwood in particular, one reviewer noted, develops an almost narcotic quality as it settles, a sign of quality material doing what quality material does.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and green. Green mandarin asserts itself immediately, a citrus note with enough bite to feel awake rather than sweet. Peony follows within minutes, softer, rounder, already beginning to blend. By the 20-minute mark, the citrus has retreated and the florals take over, rose water first, then jasmine filling in the spaces between. The handoff is seamless. No harsh line. The heart phase lasts the longest, 3-4 hours of florals held close to the skin, never projecting loudly but never disappearing either. The drydown arrives quietly. Musk and sandalwood merge into something warm and skin-like, the kind of base that doesn't announce itself but leaves an impression if someone gets close enough. On fabric, it lasts into the next day.
Cultural impact
Les Colognes Concentrées occupies a particular space in the Tous lineup, everyday enough for regular wear, but composed well enough to hold attention. The brand's Spanish roots show in the warmth of the musk-sandalwood base, a quality that reads differently than French florals or Middle Eastern ouds. Community reception skews positive, with particular appreciation for the longevity and the soft sillage that wears close without disappearing.
