The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Kriska Sonhos arrived in 2022 from Natura's Kriska line, a sub-brand that has explored drama, romance, and shock across its fragrance range. The name translates to 'dreams', and Verônica Kato built the composition with that in mind. Drawing on the warmth and sensuality of Brazilian botanicals, she used dulce de leche as the emotional core, supported by paramela and copaiba balm, two ingredients chosen for their rich, resinous qualities. The goal was not just a sweet fragrance but something that felt like the memory of a comfort, warm, intimate, present. The combination creates a scent that feels both comforting and surprising, inviting you to rediscover familiar sensations in a new context.
What sets this composition apart is the lactonic accord. Dulce de leche, caramelized milk, sits at the center of the pyramid, and it behaves differently than fruit or florals. It brings a creamy, edible warmth that feels familiar even if you've never smelled it in a fragrance before. The tropical fruits in the opening, peach, cherry, mandarin, provide a bright counterpoint, keeping the sweetness from becoming one-note. Paramela, a Brazilian herb, adds a subtle green complexity that only becomes apparent as the scent develops.
The evolution
The first minutes belong to the fruit, peach and cherry arrive together, sweet and round, while mandarin cuts through with a zest that keeps the opening from feeling heavy. Apple lingers in the background, adding body. Then the lactonic heart takes over. Dulce de leche becomes the protagonist, creamy and warm, as jasmine and peony layer into the composition. Paramela adds a green undertone that provides contrast against the sweetness, keeping the overall impression balanced and nuanced. This is where the fragrance shifts from playful to genuinely warm, the florals providing structure around the caramelized milk notes. As time passes, the base reveals itself, vanilla and cacao create a rich, powdery warmth. Sandalwood and cedar provide a woody foundation, while musk and copaiba balm add depth.
Cultural impact
Kriska Sonhos represents Natura's effort to translate Brazilian sweetness into a wearable format. The lactonic accord, dulce de leche, brings a rich, creamy sweetness to the composition that feels both comforting and unexpected. Natura's inclusion of paramela and copaiba gives the composition a distinctly Brazilian character rooted in local botanical traditions. The fragrance arrived as consumers showed growing interest in lactonic and gourmand fragrances, drawn to warm, edible scent profiles. Kriska Sonhos also reflects Natura's approach to ingredient selection, choosing components that align with their heritage and craftsmanship values.
