The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
After founding PAX in 2021 on Italy's Adriatic coast, Lorenzo Pazzaglia set out to create a fragrance that captured pure, uncomplicated happiness. Working from his kitchen-inspired laboratory in Fano, the self-taught perfumer drew on Mediterranean culinary memory, grapefruit, lime, white honey, coconut milk, as his raw material. The goal was not nuance but impact: an explosion of sensation designed to lift the spirit with every wear. Sweet Xplosion arrived in 2023 as a testament to that ambition, a scent that opens with joy and settles into something deeply personal.
Sweet Xplosion reflects Pazzaglia's belief that joy and depth are not opposing forces. The opening notes, grapefruit, lime, white honey, coconut milk, are drawn directly from the perfumer's Mediterranean kitchen memory, reimagined as olfactory ingredients rather than flavor profiles. The floral heart, led by rose and ylang-ylang with broom and davana, creates a bridge between brightness and warmth, while the drydown's coffee, benzoin, patchouli, and vanilla represent the richness he wanted the fragrance to grow into.
The evolution
The fragrance begins as a burst of citrus brilliance, grapefruit and lime collide with the sharpness of a just-cut fruit, immediately brightened by white honey and coconut milk that soften the edges without dulling the energy. Within the first quarter hour, the heart takes over: rose and ylang-ylang bloom into a warm floral haze, while broom and davana add an unexpected herbaceous depth. Mallow brings a powdery softness and argania contributes a dry, woody warmth that prevents the heart from drifting into simple sweetness. The drydown marks the true transformation, coffee and patchouli introduce a smoky, earthy character that anchors the composition, benzoin lends sticky resin, and tonka bean with vanilla seal the fragrance into a long, sweet, musky fade that persists for hours on skin.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 debut, Sweet Xplosion has become a favorite among fans of bright gourmand scents, praised for its joyful citrus‑honey opening that feels like a Mediterranean sunrise. Wearers often note its strong sillage in social settings, making it a go‑to for celebrations and weekend outings, while its gourmand depth keeps it from feeling fleeting.
