Why it exists.
The beginning
Étoile d'une Nuit was conceived in 2019 by Mathieu Nardin together with Camille Goutal, the daughter who now steers the house. The title, capturing a fleeting moment the brand often writes about, refers to that single sparkle that lingers after dusk when the sky holds just enough light to make dark feel beautiful rather than threatening. Nardin worked with this concept of transition, using bright opening notes to represent the last moment of visible light before night truly arrives.
The note selection reflects a deliberate philosophy about dusk as a sensory threshold. The fruity-citrus opening captures the last burst of visual clarity, tart enough to feel sharp but sweet enough to feel inviting. The iris heart is a masterstroke choice for this transition, its powdery-vegetal character existing between cool and warm, light and dark. The drydown leans into musk and vanilla because these materials are inherently intimate, designed to be discovered at close range rather than announced across a room. Cashmere wood rounds out the base with modern sophistication, ensuring the fragrance feels contemporary rather than nostalgic.

The fragrance opens with the urgency of dusk collapsing into evening, blackberry and citrus colliding in a burst of fading daylight.
