The 2026 composition came from the hands of Elodie Durande, a perfumer working in the tradition of botanical absolutes and seasonal specificity that defines Ffern's practice. Rather than chasing trends, Summer 26 is built to capture a precise seasonal moment, one bottle at a time. The name itself does the work: this is the fragrance of an English summer, weighted toward its sunniest, greenest hours. Ffern releases four fragrances per year, each tied to its season, each available only as long as that season lasts. Summer 26 is the seasonal chapter aligned with warmer weather, and its citrus-floral architecture answers that brief directly.
What makes Summer 26 distinctive is the density of its citrus-floral core. Six top notes stack green and bright materials, galbanum, petitgrain, bergamot, clementine, mandarin, grapefruit, before any florals arrive. The green persists well past the opening because galbanum and petitgrain carry weight that lingers longer than the citrus zest around them. The heart compounds the effect: two rose extractions, Moroccan may rose and Bulgarian rose otto, stacked alongside neroli and lavender.
The evolution
The opening reads as almost aggressively green. Galbanum leads, resinous and sharp, with petitgrain pressing close behind. Clementine and grapefruit zest soften the edges but don't tame them. There's a feeling of crushed stems, of something just pulled from the earth. As the initial burst subsides, what rises underneath is surprisingly complex: two roses working in conversation, neroli threading through with a bitter-orange warmth, lavender showing up at the edges. Carrot seed adds an earthy sweetness that sits quietly beneath the florals. As the fragrance wears on, the floral heart begins to lose its lift, and the roses soften into something creamier. The base begins to assert itself, layering in materials that change the entire character of what's on skin. Vetiver arrives quietly, dry and rooted, with cedar giving it structure.
