The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The #Self[ie] collection arrived in 2020 as Água de Cheiro's bid for the Instagram generation, fragrances that could be photographed, shared, made part of someone's daily identity. Live Green became the collection's most assertive statement: a scent that refuses to disappear into the background. The brief was Brazilian vitality translated into something that reads as green on skin, feels like the hour when the Pantanal catches golden light, and announces itself without apology. Water jasmine, native to the country's wetlands, anchors the heart, connecting the composition to the land itself.
What makes this pyramid interesting is the tension between its opening and its base. The top is all citrus and ginger, bright, almost aggressive. The base is musk, oakmoss, and amber, warm, intimate, close to the skin. Water jasmine bridges those two worlds, its wet floral character keeping the citrus honest and the musk grounded. Coriander in the heart adds an aromatic twist most people won't identify by name but will definitely feel as something green and slightly spicy that keeps the white florals from going sweet.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately, bergamot, orange, and ginger arrive together in a rush that smells like someone just peeled fruit by an open window. Within twenty minutes the citrus begins to recede, but the ginger holds on longer than expected, adding a clean heat that most fresh fragrances skip entirely. The handoff goes to water jasmine and cyclamen, which bloom quietly and introduce softness the opening lacked. This middle phase is the fragrance's most approachable moment, white florals without the headiness, greenery without the sharp edges. By hour three, the musk emerges, followed by oakmoss and amber. The drydown becomes skin-close, warm, slightly powdery in the way that oakmoss sometimes goes. On fabric it lasts longer, you'll find it in a shirt collar the next morning.
Cultural impact
Part of the #Self[ie] collection that marked Água de Cheiro's move toward younger, more identity-driven fragrance storytelling. Live Green found its audience among wearers who wanted Brazilian freshness without the tropical cliché, something that could represent the country's green intensity rather than its beach stereotypes. The the community community rates it favorably for summer wear, with particular appreciation for how the ginger note differentiates it from standard citrus profiles.
