The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
XIX March takes its name from La Focarina di San Giuseppe, the night of March 18th when fires still burn in Italian streets, a tradition of light and protection passed through generations. The white soul of the Classica collection: clean, herbal, and understated. The opening reads like a March morning, green and sharp, the kind of cold that wakes you up without warning. There's a crispness to the first moments, an almost medicinal clarity that cuts through the air, followed by a gentle citrus brightness that adds clarity without sweetness. The herbal notes layer and deepen as the scent settles on skin, revealing warmer facets beneath the initial chill. But there's warmth underneath. Always.
What makes XIX March work is the contradiction in the heart. The nettle and mint open crisp, almost medicinal, the green you expect from an aromatic fragrance. Then the lavender arrives and changes everything. Soft. Creamy. Pillowy. The kind of lavender that makes you reconsider every lavender fragrance you've tried. It's the warm spice that saves it: clove and cinnamon threading through the heart without overwhelming, keeping the florals grounded. Not a linear fragrance. A slow reveal. The kind that rewards patience.
The evolution
The opening announces nettle, mint, and green leaves with an almost medicinal clarity. Citrus cuts through, orange providing brightness without sweetness. Thirty minutes in, the hand-off begins. Lavender arrives quietly, filling the space the mint vacates. Creamy now. Almost plush. The jasmine stays subtle, a whisper underneath rather than a statement. The drydown belongs to the woods: cedar, sandalwood, vetiver. Rosemary making itself known first, then the earthy vetiver, then the warm foundation of the two woods. Musk and nutmeg linger in the background, close, intimate, not loud. The projection is moderate. It breathes near the skin. One of those scents that feels different at noon than it does at midnight. One of those scents.
Cultural impact
XIX March has built a loyal following among those who want green without the aggression. The herbal-green character makes it a reliable daily fragrance, a scent that wears well across seasons without demanding attention. Respected by enthusiasts for its intentional structure, the scent occupies a space between mainstream aromatic-green fragrances and something more deliberate. Clean, calm, and a little unexpected. The projection is moderate. It breathes near the skin. One of those scents that feels different at noon than it does at midnight. One of those scents.
