Why it exists.
The beginning
Il Piacere 2022 sits inside Tiziana Terenzi's Anniversari collection. Paolo Terenzi composed it as a fresh-floral composition with an Italian accent: Calabrian bergamot and Italian peach anchor the opening, Sicilian orange blossom carries the heart, and Australian sandalwood plus Bourbon vanilla close it out. The opening has that particular Mediterranean brightness, with the bergamot slicing cleanly through the soft fuzz of ripe peach, and the orange blossom arriving as a creamy rather than indolic floral, lending the heart a milky, almost suede-like quality. As the hours pass, the composition settles into its woody base, where the sandalwood's buttery smoothness weaves through the dense, resinous sweetness of the vanilla.
What separates Il Piacere from a garden-variety floral is the fruit-and-spice scaffolding underneath. Persian saffron and artemisia give the top notes a slightly bitter, herbal backbone that keeps the peach from sliding into candy. The heart piles on jasmine sambac, Bulgarian rose, peony, violet, lily of the valley, and orange blossom, a full bouquet that would overwhelm without the gaiac wood threading through it. In the base, Thai ylang-ylang and ambergris add a creamy, almost animal warmth that grounds the flowers. It's dense, but not heavy.
The evolution
Right out of the gate, Calabrian bergamot and Italian peach hit bright and sun-soaked, with artemisia adding an herbal snap and Bulgarian rose lending a plush undertow. The saffron weaves underneath, golden and slightly leathery, impossible to ignore. Twenty minutes in, the florals take the wheel. Jasmine sambac and Sicilian orange blossom push forward, the violet cools things down, and gaiac wood introduces a quiet smokiness that keeps the bouquet from going bridal. By the third hour, the peach is gone, the saffron has faded, and what's left is a creamy, slightly sweet base of Australian sandalwood, Bourbon vanilla, ylang-ylang, and ambergris. It clings close to skin, radiates warmth, and on clothing the next morning you get a clean, milky sandalwood-vanilla whisper that lingers through a shower or two.
