Emerald Dragon

The note architecture supports the concept without resorting to predictable green fragrances. Moroccan blue tansy gives an opening that reads almost mineral. Palo santo enters at the heart with a dry, woody character. Labdanum and castoreum anchor it with the depth of amber and the warmth of leather-adjacent skin. This composition reaches for weight underneath any surface reading, the smell of offerings left to cool, resin hardening on a wooden surface, the slow exhale of something sacred.

The evolution

The first 15 minutes are the coldest reading. Blue tansy, hyacinth, and bergamot arrive together with an almost metallic clarity, wet and rooty, like crushed iris stems held to the nose. The florality here doesn't behave like a traditional floral heart. It stays aqueous and strange, closer to pond water than garden water. Around 30 minutes in, the middle begins to surface. Palo santo and guaiac wood build a hazy warmth that reads almost like dried leaves smoldering without flame, the ghost of combustion without the heat. Labdanum thickens it further, while castoreum contributes the subtle undertone of something animal and protected, fur warmed by a body that has just left. By the 2-hour mark, the green has receded and what's left is a mossy, patchouli-anchored drydown that lingers on skin like the memory of a visit, something you half-remember from a place you can't quite name.
