The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Krissana, the Thai word for agarwood, is the name of this fragrance and its entire argument. Prin Lomros sourced oud oils from eight different provinces across Thailand: Trang on the southern coast, Chiangrai in the far north, Trat and Chanthaburi on the eastern Gulf coast, Prachinburi, Srakaew, and others. Each region produces agarwood with distinct characteristics shaped by soil, altitude, and climate. Rather than choosing one source, Lomros blended them all, treating Thailand's oud diversity like a palette rather than a single ingredient. The result is a fragrance built on the full spectrum of what Thai oud can be.
Eight regional ouds is unusual. Most oud-focused fragrances highlight a single origin, a house style, a terroir story, one specific forest. Krissana goes the other direction: what happens when you let every Thai oud variety speak at once? The composition answers by creating contrast within the oud itself. The spiced warmth of southern varieties meets the cooler, more medicinal character of highland sources. Clove, black pepper, and cumin in the opening amplify this, they don't soften the oud, they argue with it, creating tension that the floral heart eventually resolves.
The evolution
Thai oud arrives resinous and heavy, with styrax adding a medicinal edge that reads almost sharp. Clove and cumin push into the space, warm, animalic, unapologetic. If you're going to love this fragrance, this is where it either hooks you or doesn't. The roses begin to appear alongside the spice: jasmine sambac absolute first, then the deeper rose absolute. The spice doesn't disappear but it softens, becoming warmth rather than heat. The floral heart takes over as the composition develops. Jasmine sambac provides sweetness; champaca adds a creamy, almost buttery floral undertone. Patchouli and vetiver ground everything with an earthy quality that anchors the composition. The oud has been folded into the composition rather than announcing itself, supporting the florals without overwhelming them.
Cultural impact
Krissana presents Thai oud as a complete expression, featuring eight regional Thai ouds in one composition. This approach offers wearers a portrait of Thai aromatic terroir that highlights the diversity within a single origin country. The use of multiple regional ouds creates complexity and nuance that single-origin releases cannot achieve. By combining these materials with complementary florals and spices, the fragrance showcases what Thai oud can contribute to a blended composition. The house works with traditional materials and techniques, creating fragrances that reflect a specific place and its aromatic heritage.
