The Story
Why it exists.
Corsica Furiosa is named for the island's famous temper. The maquis, that wild, dense Mediterranean scrubland covering the island's interior, burns hot in summer and grows back with a fury that locals call furiosa. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, the brand's perfumer-founder, has long drawn from his native island for raw materials. The 2014 release is part of the L'Héritage Corse collection, built around ingredients native to Corsica, the nepita wild mint, the mastic resin from the lentiscus bush, the earthy moss that carpets the island's hillsides. This was Corticchiato's letter to the place he knows best: green, raw, and untamed.

The Beginning
Corsica Furiosa is named for the island's famous temper. The maquis, that wild, dense Mediterranean scrubland covering the island's interior, burns hot in summer and grows back with a fury that locals call furiosa. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, the brand's perfumer-founder, has long drawn from his native island for raw materials. The 2014 release is part of the L'Héritage Corse collection, built around ingredients native to Corsica, the nepita wild mint, the mastic resin from the lentiscus bush, the earthy moss that carpets the island's hillsides. What sets this apart from other green fragrances is its refusal to smooth the edges. Tomato leaf is inherently aggressive, that sharp, almost vegetal smell of crushed stems. Pair it with Corsican nepita, a wild mint variety with more earth than peppermint, and the result is an opening that hits before you're ready. The mastic doesn't help matters: sticky, resinous, slightly turpentine-like, it's the sap of the maquis, not a polite interpretation of it. This is Corsican landscape as olfactory shock.
The Evolution
The opening arrives fast and doesn't apologize. Tomato leaf, then Corsican nepita mint, then the lime, a triple green assault that's herbal, bitter, and alive. Within minutes the mint sharpens into something almost medicinal, and the mastic adds its resinous weight, like walking past a pine tree with sap on the bark. The heart settles slower than most green fragrances, holding that herbal intensity for 2-3 hours as moss and labdanum deepen the structure, the honey appearing as a whisper rather than a concession to sweetness. The drydown earns its reputation. Moss and labdanum anchor the composition, and the green doesn't disappear, it transforms, becomes earthy, becomes the smell of maquis after rain. On fabric, it can last into the next day.
Cultural Impact
Won the FIFI Award for Best Niche Fragrance in 2015, which placed it in the spotlight alongside fragrances from houses three times its age. The win was notable because the fragrance had no safe notes, no vanilla, no cashmere, no easy comfort. Reviewers described it as polarizing, intense, and confrontational. But in the niche world, that honesty reads as integrity. It's become a reference point: if you want to understand what a green fragrance is capable of when it refuses to compromise, you smell this.
The House
France · Est. 2003
Parfum d'Empire is a French niche perfume house that translates the drama of historic empires into modern fragrance narratives. Founded in 2003, the brand releases scents that reference ancient Egypt, Ottoman courts, and colonial frontiers, each built around a clear olfactory theme. The line includes Eau de Gloire Cologne (2023), Ambre Russe (2003), Cuir Ottoman (2006), Un Bel Amour D’été (2024) and other compositions that balance bold structure with refined nuance. The house positions itself as a laboratory for storytelling through scent, inviting collectors to explore chapters of world history in a bottle.

The scent sounds like a guitar played loud on a hillside, raw, warm, immediate. There's the dry rattle of grass in wind, then the low hum of resinous wood underneath. The opening is percussive and herbal. It doesn't build toward anything. It arrives.
