The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Emilie Coppermann created Taís for Jequiti in 2018. The fragrance opens with kiwi, melon, and blackcurrant, bright fruits that feel sun-ripe and juicy on first spray. These top notes create an immediate impression of tropical freshness, the kind of bright, vibrant scent that suggests warm weather and outdoor moments. The heart builds with orchid and magnolia, florals with an exotic creaminess that Coppermann was translating into scent. These middle notes add body and richness, moving beyond the initial fruit burst into something more complex and layered. Cedar and sandalwood anchor it all, providing a woody foundation that grounds the brighter opening notes. The base notes give the fragrance depth and staying power, ensuring it lingers on the skin long after the initial application.
The kiwi and melon create a bright, effervescent opening that grabs attention immediately. Blackcurrant adds a tart counterpoint, keeping the sweetness from becoming one-note. In the heart, orchid and magnolia bring body, their presence giving the fragrance weight and depth. Mimosa and lily of the valley add a powdery lift that introduces another dimension to the composition. The woody-musky base provides warmth and extends the tropical feeling into something more intimate, creating a drydown that lingers close to the skin.
The evolution
The opening features kiwi and melon with a brightness that feels almost effervescent. Blackcurrant deepens the impression, adding a tart counterpoint to the sweeter fruit notes. The florals emerge with orchid first, then magnolia rising to create a creamy floral heart. White florals follow, jasmine and lily of the valley amplifying into something enveloping. The sandalwood and musk arrive to support the florals rather than replace them. The drydown extends the tropical feeling into something warmer, offering a lingering presence that stays close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Taís occupies a particular space in Brazilian fragrance culture, worn by customers who discovered it through personal recommendations. The fruity-floral character fits within Jequiti's broader catalog of bright, tropical compositions. The fragrance features kiwi, melon, and blackcurrant as prominent notes, balanced by orchid and magnolia in the heart, with a woody-musky base that extends the tropical feeling into warmth. Taís represents a confident, fruity-floral choice within the Brazilian fragrance landscape, its combination of bright fruits and creamy florals creating a distinctly tropical impression.
