The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Xuxa Meneghel has been a fixture of Brazilian television for decades, a presenter whose reach spans generations. Jequiti, the Brazilian fragrance house founded in 1999, has built a catalog that ties bold new scents to popular Brazilian personalities, and in 2017 brought that tradition to one of the country's most recognizable faces. The fragrance itself takes its cues from sunlit coastal living: bright citrus, tropical florals, and a warmth that stays close. The brief was clear, accessible joy, not quiet elegance. This is a scent that wants to be worn, shared, and reached for again the next morning.
What makes the composition distinctive is the fennel at the top. It's not a standard citrus-floral opening, it brings an almost savory, herbal quality that sets Xuxa Meneghel apart from the usual bright-and-floral template. The five top notes (fennel, mint, bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin orange) create a burst of freshness that doesn't read as clean or soapy. Mint gives it coolness. Fennel gives it edge. Grapefruit and mandarin bring the brightness. Bergamot smooths everything. Then frangipani, creamy, tropical, unmistakably Brazilian, arrives in the heart to take over. The contrast between that sharp green opening and the soft floral warmth that follows is where the fragrance lives.
The evolution
The opening lands sharp. Bergamot and grapefruit hit first, then the mint gives a cool lift, and the fennel arrives as something unexpected, a green, almost anisic note that stops it from being just another bright citrus. Mandarin orange rounds the top for the first twenty to thirty minutes. Then the hand-off begins. The citrus cools, the mint fades, and frangipani takes over the foreground with orange blossom alongside it. The rose shows up quietly, it doesn't dominate, it softens. This is where the fragrance shifts from energetic to warm. The drydown settles into amber and musk, with cedar and sandalwood underneath. The cinnamon adds a faint spice that sneaks in just before the base fully arrives. What lingers is the musk, clean, slightly powdery, wrapped around the warmth of amber. The cedar and sandalwood keep it grounded. On most skin types, expect four to six hours. The sillage is moderate, this isn't a fragrance that fills a room, but the wearer notices it on themselves throughout the day.
Cultural impact
Released in 2017, Xuxa Meneghel entered a Jequiti catalog known for tying new fragrances to popular Brazilian personalities, a model that connects fragrance to cultural moments rather than abstract luxury. The scent sits comfortably in the tropical-floral space, appealing to wearers who want brightness and warmth without formality.
