The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vintage Memoir arrived in 2026 as part of Grande's growing portfolio of narrative-driven compositions, limited to just 50 bottles. The perfumer, Marius Pană, built it around an old-fashioned idea: a scent that behaves like a memory, layered and slightly out of focus, with a warmth that doesn't rush. The composition leans heavily on CO2 extracts and absolutes, materials prized for their density and natural richness, giving the juice a texture that feels concentrated from the first spray. Bergamot and peach lift the opening with a bright, almost brittle clarity, while jasmine tea CO2 introduces a curious, slightly fermented tension at the top.
What's unusual here is the density of the heart. Orris butter CO2, May rose CO2, geranium absolute, jasmine sambac absolute, and Moroccan rose absolute all sit in the same phase, crowding the powdery-floral register until the accord feels almost upholstered. Orris carries the most weight, its rooty, suede-like quality threading through every other bloom and giving the composition a quiet structural current. The jasmine tea CO2 in the top adds a curious, slightly fermented tension against the bergamot and peach, a faintly leafy edge that keeps the sweetness from settling too early.
The evolution
On skin, Vintage Memoir opens with a clean, almost brittle mix of bergamot, lemon, and jasmine tea, with peach curling underneath like sunlight through curtain fabric. The first 30 minutes feel restrained, almost cautious, as if the fragrance is checking the room. Then the heart arrives all at once. Iris, rose, jasmine, tuberose, ylang, violet leaf, geranium. Powder, warmth, and a green-floral bite that keeps it from collapsing into sweetness. This is where Vintage Memoir lives, in the long, unhurried plateau between the opening and the base, a sustained passage where every floral seems to rotate forward and recede in turn. The orris threads through the whole stretch, its cool rootiness tempering the jammy quality of the Moroccan rose, while violet leaf adds a cool, watery green that lifts the denser absolutes. After about three hours, the composition tilts.
Cultural impact
With only 50 bottles produced and a composition heavy on CO2 extracts and absolutes, Vintage Memoir reads as a careful study in density. The heavy reliance on orris butter CO2, May rose CO2, jasmine sambac absolute, and Moroccan rose absolute gives the juice a richness that recalls older styles of perfumery, the kind that valued natural richness and complexity. The animalic base of civet and ambergris, paired with labdanum, benzoin, tolu balsam, and clove, places the composition in a tradition of resinous, spiced florals that reward close attention.
