The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lounge Leather arrived in 2025 as a limited edition release, with the label confirming no reissue planned. The inspiration reads instantly from the name: a private lounge, the kind where fine leather isn't an accessory, it's the architecture. Perfumer Marius Pana composed this one to evoke that specific interior. The brand's own copy frames it as fine leather embracing you with the discretion of perfectly tailored clothing, like perfectly finished furniture. The opening brings grapefruit, bergamot, apple, lavender, artemisia, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper together into a brightness that feels almost architectural, pulling in eight different directions before the structure settles.
What makes the structure unusual is how much it asks of its top notes. Eight openings, apple through nutmeg, each pulling in a different direction: grapefruit sharpens, lavender cools, cardamom warms, artemisia bites. This one builds tension early, almost aggressively bright, before the heart even enters. The heart itself carries eleven materials, from oud to rose water to tobacco absolute, which is dense for a leather. Tobacco absolute and styrax take over, smoky and resinous, like cold smoke trapped in leather.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright and almost bracing, a burst of bergamot and grapefruit sharpened by apple, with cardamom warming one side and lavender cooling the other. Artemisia adds a green bitterness that keeps the brightness from collapsing into sweetness. As the composition wears, the top notes settle and the heart begins to surface. Tobacco absolute and styrax take over, smoky and resinous, layered against oud that reads more as texture than statement. Cashmeran brings a woody-velvet quality that softens the transition, while jasmine sambac and rose water drift through without ever taking the wheel. Cedar holds the structure upright underneath. Later, the leather note arrives fully, suede first, then something rougher and more lived-in underneath. Benzoin and labdanum add a golden resin glow, while tonka bean absolute and vanilla CO2 bring sweetness without going gourmand.
Cultural impact
Within the leather genre, Lounge Leather leans away from heavy resin constructions and toward a softer, more wearable register, the kind built on tobacco, suede, and restrained sweetness rather than aggressive animalics. The limited edition framing positions it as something produced in small numbers, with the label confirming no reissue planned, a detail that distinguishes it from standard catalog releases. Parfumo commentary referenced by sources has drawn comparisons to a 'well-known designer leather scent,' noting the shared DNA while pointing toward Lounge Leather's sweeter, more floral-inflected direction as the point of divergence.
