The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Soul Drops was created by Giulietta Capuleti in 2011, drawing inspiration from Verona and the enduring tragedy of Juliet. Enrico Scartezzini was invited to translate that literary drama into olfactory form, capturing the emotional arc from youthful hope to profound sorrow. The name reflects the concentrated emotional weight contained within each bottle, a single drop holding the gravity of a story centuries old.
The note pyramid reflects a philosophy of emotional progression. The opening captures first-impression excitement with accessible sweetness and spice. The heart represents the deepening of a relationship, where familiar florals are complicated by unexpected pomegranate. The base honors the lasting impression, where vanilla and ambergris create warmth while oakmoss and cedarwood ensure the fragrance does not simply disappear into generic sweetness. Each layer serves the story.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with the initial spark of a love story: berries and pink pepper, bright and full of possibility. As the narrative progresses, the heart introduces complexity. Jasmine speaks of intimacy, rose of passion, and pomegranate of the bittersweet fruit of experience. Violet whispers of memory. The drydown represents the quiet after the storm, where ambergris and bourbon vanilla offer warmth, oakmoss provides earthy continuity, and cedarwood with patchouli remind the wearer that love stories, even tragic ones, leave their mark.
Cultural impact
Within the niche community, Soul Drops is often cited as a benchmark for narrative‑driven florals. Its blend of fresh berries and powdery roses set a template that other Italian houses have echoed, while its warm vanilla‑ambergris base keeps it anchored in classic elegance. Wearers describe it as the scent of a quiet Verona evening, making it a go‑to for those who value storytelling in perfume.
