The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mīts 3 arrived in 2010 from Dzintars, a Latvian fragrance house, as the third entry in the Mīts series, which translates literally as "Myth" in Latvian. The composition leans on a fougère skeleton: lavender built over a mossy, earthy base. What separates it from the standard template is the opening treatment. Tarragon and sequoia up top give the fragrance a sharper, more resinous character than the conventional bergamot-and-herb arrangement. The anise note in tarragon carries a green, almost sweet heat, and the sequoia reads more like cut wood than fresh lumber, dry and woody in a way that hints at pine resin.
The tarragon-coriander pairing opens the fragrance with a layered greenness. Tarragon brings that anise-edged character, slightly sharp, herbal but with a sweetness underneath, and coriander layers warm citrus-spice against it, softening the anis while adding a flicker of something warmer. Sequoia steps in alongside them with a dry, woody lift that gives the opening its structural backbone. Once the heart arrives, lavender and clary sage build the classic herbal texture, lavender cooling the composition down while sage adds a warmer, almost sweaty depth beneath it.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong to tarragon and coriander, green and slightly sweet, with the anis-edge sharp enough to register immediately on the skin. Sequoia shows up early too, a dry woody thread that feels closer to resin than lumber. By the thirty-minute mark the lavender arrives and softens the opening into something cooler and cleaner, a recognizable shift from green sharpness to herbal clarity. Clary sage folds in alongside it, adding a slightly sweaty herbal warmth that gives the heart more texture than a straightforward lavender note would, and roots the whole composition into something earthbound. The base phase is where the fragrance earns its keep. Patchouli and oakmoss over a clean musk create a mossy, slightly bitter, quietly persistent drydown that outlasts the brighter notes by a wide margin.
Cultural impact
Mīts 3 reads as a fougère that knows exactly what it wants to be. The composition stays rooted in the classical form: lavender, oakmoss, patchouli, the skeleton that has defined men's aromatic fragrances for over a century, but it shifts the opening away from the usual bergamot-and-herb arrangement toward something greener and more resinous. The tarragon brings an anise-tinged sharpness that most men's fougères don't reach for, the sequoia adds a dry woody backbone that feels closer to resin than to fresh lumber, and the coriander threads a warm citrus-spice counterpoint through both.
