The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Gardelia 2025 arrives as a response to a decade that has passed in what feels like an instant. Lives altered. Evolved. Morphed into new shapes. Rather than revisit what worked, the decision was made to acknowledge it: the knowing nod to earlier work, the masterstrokes already made. The gardenia bloom opens with a creamy, almost buttery warmth that immediately distinguishes it from more expected white floral interpretations. There's a lush tropical quality beneath the petals, a honeyed richness that gives the scent depth without tipping into sweetness. The composition unfolds in layers: top notes of bergamot and yuzu provide a bright citrus opening that prevents the florals from feeling heavy at first encounter.
The gardenia sits at the center here, but surrounded differently. Ylang-ylang and rose amplify its tropical warmth. Osmanthus adds a honeyed apricot sweetness that prevents the cream from cloying. Bergamot and yuzu lift the opening so the florals breathe from the first spray. At the base, Sri Lankan vetiver brings its earthy, green-wood character while Siam benzoin wraps everything in warm resin. The architecture is deliberate: top notes that announce, heart notes that envelop, base notes that endure.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately, bergamot and yuzu zinging bright and citrus-clean against the skin. Within minutes, gardenia arrives, but it's not the sleepy white floral of expectation. It's warm. Almost buttery. Osmanthus slides in beside it, pressing the sweetness into something more complex than simple florals. The rose doesn't announce itself, it lingers in the background, a quiet honeyed presence that makes the gardenia feel fuller. As the composition evolves, the vetiver begins to show its character: green, earthy, slightly root-like. The benzoin softens the edges, wrapping the florals in warmth as the day wears on. The sillage shifts across the wear period, beginning with an assertive presence that announces itself before settling into something more intimate and personal.
Cultural impact
Gardelia 2025 joins a small, intentional catalog. Around 500 bottles produced, released in collaboration with a boutique in Italy. Wearers describe it as the fragrance of someone who doesn't need to announce themselves: confident, unhurried, built for the kind of attention that finds you rather than the kind you chase. It's a scent that works best in close quarters, intimate rather than theatrical, inviting those nearby to lean in rather than step back. The gardenia remains the heart throughout, never retreating behind louder elements, always present as a warm, creamy anchor that defines the experience from first spray to final fade.
