The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ten years is a long time to refuse compromise. For Antonio Gardoni and Bogue Profumo, it meant building a catalog of fragrances that reject the smooth, the safe, the pleasant-by-design. 10 marks that anniversary not with a retrospective, but with a statement piece. The number is the title, but the meaning runs deeper: this is what a decade of architectural perfumery produces when the architect decides to stop planning and start piling on.
The composition doesn't simplify with age, it complicates. Fig in its various states appears throughout: leaf, nectar, and milk, each extracted differently. Immortelle contributes a warm, herbal character rarely achieved in contemporary work. The civet isn't hidden, it's woven in. What results is a fragrance dense enough to reward extended wearing, where new facets reveal themselves hour after hour. Layers of sweet, lactonic fig milk intertwine with green fig leaf and the syrupy depth of nectar, creating a continuously evolving experience. Gardoni builds with density as his primary material.
The evolution
The top arrives sharp. Bergamot zest and mandarin petitgrain hit immediately, followed by the green snap of fig leaf and the herbal push of marigold and lavender. Petitgrain adds a slightly bitter citrus edge that keeps everything grounded. The first hour is all controlled intensity, aromatic, green, and bright, refusing to smooth out. By hour two, the floral heart emerges: jasmine sambac brings sweetness, but fig nectar and fig milk take over, softened by damask rose and amber. Incense smoke drifts through, not heavy, but present. By hour four, the base declares itself. Civet, styrax, benzoin, and vanilla form a warm, resinous foundation. Oud adds depth. Sandalwood softens the edges. As wear continues, what lingers is a warm amber-vanilla trace with an animalic whisper, close to the skin, intimate, impossible to shake.
Cultural impact
Released in 2022 to mark a decade of Bogue Profumo's work, 10 represents the Italian house's unapologetic stance on density and longevity. The fragrance appeals to wearers who treat scent as composition rather than ambiance, those seeking something that works on skin rather than disappearing into it. Operating outside mainstream commercial channels, Bogue has attracted those who value craft over convention, finding its audience among those who appreciate a more rigorous approach to perfumery.
