The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Neon Rush arrived in 2016 from And Other Stories. Fragrance for the brand is a way to extend a particular mood, one that lives somewhere between the wardrobe and the imagination. Neon Rush fit that brief with an ease that suggests it was never overthought. Cherry, orchid, tonka. The combination feels modern and a touch glamorous without drifting into formal territory. It's the kind of scent that earns attention quietly, then keeps it. The juice itself leans bright at first, almost candied with the cherry and clementine reading like the opening salvo of something sweeter than it lets on. Then the florals arrive, and the whole structure softens into something skin-adjacent and warm. The tonka base grounds everything, giving the composition a creamy finish that lingers without weighing down.
The composition earns attention through its fruity-floral character. Cherry and clementine open bright, almost edible, with the pink pepper ticking underneath like a held breath. Then the heart introduces jasmine sambac alongside wild orchid and frangipani, a combination that pulls the scent toward something fuller and more textured than a simple fruity-floral would suggest. Tonka and vanilla close it out, anchoring the sweetness with a creamy warmth that keeps the florals from floating away.
The evolution
On skin, Neon Rush announces itself with a generous spray of cherry and clementine, bright and slightly fizzy, with pink pepper ticking underneath like a held breath. The opening runs long enough to enjoy before the florals take over. Jasmine sambac rises first, green and indolic, then frangipani softens it into something creamier, more tropical. The orchid stays subtle, more texture than statement. Eventually the base starts to surface. Tonka bean brings a warm almond-vanilla hum, and the white musk underneath gives everything a clean, slightly soapy softness. The florals fade gradually, leaving a close-to-skin drydown of vanilla, tonka, and a faint cherry sweetness. It holds well on most skin, and the sillage is moderate, a presence that stays in a room after you've left but never overwhelms it.
Cultural impact
Neon Rush fits into the category of fashion-adjacent fragrance, the kind that appeals to someone building a personal style rather than hunting collector bottles. It's accessible, wearable, and built for daily use rather than special occasions. The cherry-orchid-tonka combination places it firmly in the fruity-floral family, but the specific balance of those notes gives it a personality that distinguishes it from more generic offerings in the same space. The fragrance works well for warm months, but its warm base notes also make it viable for fall and early winter wear.
