The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Nocturnal Tales is a fragrance that extends the brand's approach to personal expression into scent. Where other fragrances might announce themselves loudly, this one settles into the background of daily life, present but not demanding attention. It captures a moment in the day that feels unguarded, intimate, and true to whoever is wearing it. The fragrance invites the wearer into a space where the rules of presentation soften and something more honest takes over.
The structure is built around contrast. Cypress and lavender open clean, almost austere, that sharp, aromatic green that reads like a forest at altitude. Grapefruit adds brightness without sweetness, keeping the top crisp. Then comes the turn: tea and osmanthus arrive quietly, almost shy. Osmanthus is the unexpected note here, bringing a sweet floral quality that feels layered and complex. Tobacco doesn't dominate; it sits in the back of the room, adding warmth without smoke. The composition earns its name through restraint, not drama.
The evolution
The opening lands sharp and aromatic, cypress and lavender with grapefruit cutting through, bright and clean. Thirty minutes in, the citrus recedes and something softer takes over. Tea appears first, slightly bitter and warm, followed by osmanthus, unexpected, blooming in the middle of the composition. The tobacco doesn't announce itself. It simply adds weight. By hour two, the top notes have settled entirely and the base takes over. Atlas cedarwood dominates now, dry and resinous, with suede underneath adding softness. Vetiver grounds it all with an earthy, slightly smoky finish.
Cultural impact
Nocturnal Tales occupies an interesting space between niche and mainstream. The osmanthus-tobacco combination offers a complexity that rewards attention, creating a fragrance that feels considered rather than obvious. It's the kind of fragrance that asks something of the person wearing it, inviting a certain attentiveness to how the notes unfold over time.
