The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Wish Come True arrived in 2017, part of Stéphane Humbert Lucas's La Collection 777. The name is a promise, and Lucas, the artist-perfumer, treats that promise with the same seriousness he brings to everything. A wish isn't a whim. It's an intention. The fragrance translates that intent into something wearable: amber warmth, white florals, and a base that lingers like the afterglow of getting exactly what you asked for. The opening sparkles with citrus brightness before the florals arrive, soft and enveloping. The amber foundation settles into skin like a warm embrace, the kind that stays with you through an entire evening and leaves you wondering where the hours went.
What makes this composition stand apart is its structure. The citrus top notes arrive bright and clear, giving the ylang-ylang and white florals room to breathe before the smoky, resinous incense and labdanum deepen things. By the time the vanilla and oud arrive, you've been prepared. The pyramid builds toward something opulent, but it doesn't ambush you with it. Instead, each layer introduces itself in turn, the florals blooming into the incense, the incense deepening into the resins, until the full weight of the composition reveals itself as something layered and long-lasting.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and immediate, citrus oils that smell like they've been sitting in warm sunlight, not squeezed this morning. The ylang-ylang follows within minutes, tropical and heady, while a whisper of incense already begins curling underneath like the first wisp of smoke from a distant fire. The heart unfolds over the next two to three hours: creamy tuberose and jasmine leaning into the incense, the labdanum adding a sticky, resinous warmth that feels like a dimly lit room where something important is about to happen. Then the drydown arrives, and it arrives for a long time. Vanilla and ambergris create a skin-warm sweetness, while Mysore sandalwood and Laotian oud provide the foundation. Hours later, on fabric especially, it still smells like something worth coming back to.
Cultural impact
Wish Come True occupies an interesting space within the niche fragrance world. Where much of La Collection 777 leans toward the esoteric and challenging, this fragrance offers warmth and accessibility without sacrificing complexity. It's an opulent composition that signals luxury while remaining wearable across seasons and occasions. The amber-floral structure creates a particular kind of warmth that feels both inviting and sophisticated, the sort of scent that draws compliments without trying. There's enough complexity here to keep surprising you with each wearing, yet the balance is tuned toward comfort rather than confrontation.
