The beginning
Parfum de la Nuit translates to perfume of the night. The collection explores how our truest selves emerge after dark, when the costumes come off and the night invites you to be yourself. Roja Dove built his house on the belief that fragrance is your most intimate accessory, an extension of who you are or who you wish to become. No. 3 takes that philosophy into the hours when subtlety becomes its own kind of honesty. The scent unfolds like a secret shared between shadows, revealing layers that daylight keeps hidden.
What makes No. 3 distinctive is its tension: cool and warm in constant negotiation. The bergamot-artemisia opening arrives crisp and almost medicinal, a surprise before the rose settles in with its waxy, slightly bitter coolness. But the base refuses to let warmth win quietly, leather, incense, cumin, and a constellation of woods build something resinous and animalic that lasts well past midnight. It's a fragrance that earns its name.
The evolution
Bergamot hits first, sharp, bright, citrus-cool. Artemisia follows with a green, almost anise-like bitterness that keeps things cold. Then the turn: May rose blooms into the heart, cool and waxy, like petals pressed between pages. The warmth arrives as a wave, cardamom, saffron, cumin. The leather and incense foundation takes hold, heavy and resinous, as the rose fades. Cedar, sandalwood, patchouli, and gurjan balsam build a woody fortress beneath it all. Benzoin and amber add a faint sweetness that never quite softens the edges. The sillage remains substantial throughout wear. The drydown settles into leather, smoke, and something almost animalic, cumin asserting itself in the best possible way.
Cultural impact
Part of the Prestige Collection, Parfum de la Nuit No. 3 occupies the bolder end of the ROJA range. Since its 2015 debut, it has attracted wearers who want a fragrance that announces itself rather than whispers. The rose-spice-leather structure sets it apart from the broader oriental landscape, offering a more assertive alternative to conventional sweet and smoky compositions.
