The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Verônica Kato and Nicolas Beaulieu launched Dose de Humor in 2020 with a name that translates to "a dose of humor", an invitation to take scent less seriously. The fragrance opens with citrus sparkle, fruit softness, and gourmand warmth. Bright top notes lift the composition, while a smooth fruity heart provides roundness and accessibility. The base anchors the blend with deeper, warmer elements that give the scent presence without heaviness. This is a fragrance built around pleasure and lightness, designed to feel inviting rather than imposing.
What makes the composition work is the way its elements interact. Champagne brings effervescence and aldehydic lift, but lemongrass adds a slightly herbal and green quality that keeps the blend from feeling purely sweet. The patchouli in the base prevents the sugar and vanilla from taking over entirely, grounding the fragrance with an earthy backbone that adds depth and dimension. The result is a scent where bright, sparkling top notes meet a fruity heart, all anchored by a dry, woody base that gives the fragrance structure and longevity.
The evolution
The opening bursts with champagne's carbonation, pink grapefruit brightens the start, lemongrass adds a green snap, and the pear arrives soft and slightly aldehydic, like biting into a ripe piece of fruit beside a flute of sparkling wine. As the fragrance develops, the heart reveals raspberry sweetness layered with rose, and the Lily of the Valley adds a delicate floral touch that keeps the composition feeling light. The base takes over as the top notes fade. Patchouli arrives dry and earthy, providing contrast to the sweetness of the heart. Vanilla holds warmth close, and the patchouli ensures the drydown remains balanced, with the sweetness of the heart gradually giving way to the earthier base notes as the fragrance settles into its final hours on the skin.
Cultural impact
Dose de Humor occupies a space between approachable floral-fruity and something with more character. The lemongrass and patchouli combination gives the fragrance an unusual quality within its category, while the champagne note adds a celebratory character. These elements together create a scent that stands apart from more straightforward sweet-fruity options, offering something that feels both playful and grounded.
