The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Bruce Wayne is part of Lost Tribe's Batman series, the house's lineup that places iconic characters inside raw, untamed environments. Perfumer Mathew Schmuelian composed it as a brooding study in contrast. The fragrance translates Bruce Wayne's duality into raw nature: the cold austerity of a forest at night paired with something quieter and more controlled underneath. Only 29 numbered bottles were made, putting it firmly in ultra-niche collector hands. The scent renders its character through olfaction alone, building the mood of midnight pine and shadowed wealth without ever resorting to literal smoke or leather accords. You wear the cold of the forest and the discipline of someone who never raises his voice, even when he could.
What separates Bruce Wayne from other woody-orientals is the Mongolian deer musk at the base, macerated for over a year before it touched the formula. That animalic depth doesn't shout, it anchors, giving the oud and frankincense a pulse they couldn't achieve alone. Up top, Douglas fir gives a coniferous clarity that cuts sharp against anything remotely sweet, more evergreen forest than barbershop. Nootka cypress and Canadian hemlock echo that resinous greenness from the supporting cast, adding a dry, slightly smoky barkiness that grounds the cold woods before they drift into abstraction.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes belong to the bergamot, bright and almost innocent against the fir needles. The citrus reads cold-peel rather than warm zest, quick to lift off the skin and let the green resin push forward. As that citrus fades, the composition darkens noticeably. Rose and gardenia arrive with a creamy weight, the blue lotus adding a cool aquatic edge that keeps the heart from going too sweet. Slowly the woods take command, layering Canadian hemlock and guaiac into a quiet, smoky platform that settles beneath the florals rather than fighting them. The macerated deer musk eventually surfaces as warmth on the skin, animalic but refined, never barnyard. Indonesian sandalwood threads through the late drydown, lending a creamy lactone that softens everything without dulling the edges.
Cultural impact
Bruce Wayne sits within Lost Tribe's Batman series, a lineup that translates cultural icons into raw-material compositions built from moss, wood, and musk rather than costume cues. With only 29 numbered bottles produced, each one arrives with a specific number attached, putting it in the same conversation as art-object perfume rather than department-store stock. Wearers describe it as a cold-weather statement piece: the scent of a wool coat in a city that still has snow on the ground.
