The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Queen of Heart arrived in 2013 as a women's fragrance from Lanoe, with a bottle designed by Bernd Streiter and a composition created by perfumer Simone Schmelzer. Its title suggests romantic devotion, yet the scent never settles into sweetness alone. Raspberry, Apple, Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Lemon, and Mandarin Orange open with fruit and citrus, placing brightness and playfulness at the centre. The contrast gives the fragrance its distinctive character: polished and composed, while retaining the juicy sweetness of ripe fruit. As the fresh opening develops, the brighter citrus facets soften into a floral heart before giving way to a warm, woody base, revealing a composition built around contrast rather than a single dominant note.
What makes Queen of Heart interesting is the handoff between opposites. Fruity top notes supply a bright, almost fizzy impression, while the heart adds rose, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, Cyclamen, and Neroli. Below that, Vetiver, Amber, Cedarwood, Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla, and Patchouli lend weight and texture. The notes don't ask you to choose between freshness and warmth; they move from vivid opening to powdery floral heart to a grounded, woody base.
The evolution
The first impression is quick and sparkling. Raspberry, Apple, Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Lemon, and Mandarin Orange bring tart fruit and polished citrus, bright enough to feel almost fizzy on skin. The fruity notes add a juicy sweetness, while the citrus lends a cleaner, more polished edge. As those notes recede, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, Rose, Cyclamen, Neroli, and Black Pepper unfold into a powdery white-floral heart with a clean peppery edge. Neroli adds a soft floral brightness, while the pepper keeps the flowers from becoming overly sweet. The composition then changes gear. Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Vetiver, and Patchouli give it structure, with dry woods and earthy patchouli grounding the earlier fruit and flowers. Amber, Musk, and Vanilla soften the drydown into something warm and quietly sensual.
Cultural impact
Queen of Heart can be discovered through the contrast that shapes its composition. Raspberry, Apple, Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Lemon, and Mandarin Orange establish a bright fruit-and-citrus opening, lively but polished rather than simply sweet. That brightness softens into Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, Rose, Cyclamen, Neroli, and Black Pepper, where powdery white florals meet a clean, gently spiced edge. The base introduces another shift through Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Patchouli, Amber, Musk, and Vanilla, grounding the composition with dry woods, earthy depth, creamy warmth, and a soft musky finish.
The House
LanoeLanoe is a niche fragrance house known for a tightly edited catalogue built around numbered compositions, including No. 3, No. 4, No. 7 and No. 8. The house also introduced Mirus I in 2015 and released G'Like, Ibiza Love, Lovely and Black in its broader line. With a name drawn from Old French and a visual language shaped by ornate bottles, bold colour and gold detailing, Lanoe occupies an expressive place within niche perfumery. The brand's catalogue spans fresh citrus scents, rich orientals and woody formulas, but its identity remains consistent in an emphasis on theatrical presentation and concentrated fragrance.
