The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
London Hall is Jusbox's 2025 tribute to the cultural sprawl of London itself, not a single borough, but the collision of them. Perfumer Julien Rasquinet created the fragrance as a woody, leathery unisex composition, and the project draws on the cultural and musical diversity the house has built its identity around. The name evokes a concert hall, a grand stone lobby, the hush before a composition begins. But the fragrance that follows does not behave like a concert hall. It behaves like the streets around it, spice markets and underground platforms and tailors with good instincts. Rasquinet's aim was clear: capture the sophistication and the grit in the same breath. What emerges is a scent that refuses to settle into one borough or one mood.
What makes this composition distinctive is the structural tension between the top accord and the base. Cumin and saffron bring their warmth and resinous weight, heavy enough to anchor the opening. Here they sit beside cold lemon and Bulgarian rose, which cuts through that warmth and pushes the accord into sharper, cooler territory. The leather and patchouli in the base then drag everything back into something darker, smokier, more urban.
The evolution
The opening is all brightness and spice: bright lemon up front, then cumin landing like a warm spoon of broth, saffron threading through like silk pulled taut. It reads almost edible for a brief window before the florals arrive. Then Bulgarian rose and jasmine absolute take over. This is where the composition gets interesting, because the florals are not soft or powdery. They are dense, resinous, propped up by frankincense and labdanum. The jasmine carries a leather hush to it, as though someone left a folded coat on a piano bench. As the hours pass, the base settles in for the long stay. Cedarwood and vetiver provide the dry frame, patchouli adds its earthy murmur, and leather becomes the dominant voice. This is the phase that lingers, the part of the fragrance that ends up on your scarf, your jacket lapel, the collar of a coat you wore once and forgot about.
Cultural impact
London Hall sits in the brand's 2025 lineup, and is sold exclusively through Harrods and the Jusbox boutique in Milan. That retail choice places the fragrance in a specific context, one where the buyer is making a deliberate selection rather than browsing a crowded department store counter. The cumin-and-leather combination gives the composition a distinct identity. It is dense and spiced, with a floral heart that keeps it from tipping entirely into darkness. One wearer describes it as uniting British elegance with urban spice, floral, warm, and stylish at the same time, which captures the particular balance Rasquinet was working toward.
