The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
AM is the sequel. PM was the first act, a collaboration with Producer Michael that introduced the carbon fibre collector's case and the woody aromatic signature. AM continues that conversation, same perfumer, same house, but with a different story to tell. Shadi Samra composed both, building AM as a companion piece rather than a replacement. The name itself signals the relationship: morning after evening, the next chapter. The Producer Michael collection applies that philosophy to bold, unapologetic compositions that don't ask for permission. AM carries that same assertive presence, opening with saffron threading through thyme's herbal character before Italian orange arrives, bright and citrus-forward.
The note structure here is built for contrast. Saffron opens bright and metallic, threading through thyme's herbal character before Italian orange arrives, smooth and quiet, almost calming the saffron's edge. The heart layers cedarwood with damask rose absolute and elemi resin, adding a floral dimension that bridges into the base. Patchouli, guaiac wood, and ambroxan form a woody earthy foundation that extends the drydown well beyond the opening. It's a composition that rewards patience, the initial brightness gives way to something deeper and more contemplative.
The evolution
The opening is the event. Saffron hits metallic and sharp, thyme pushes herbal and slightly bitter, then Italian orange arrives. Within 20 minutes the citrus recedes and cedarwood moves forward, warm, with the damask rose adding a floral note that tempers the wood. Elemi resin acts as the bridge, keeping the transition from getting too soft. The drydown is where this lives longest. Patchouli's earthy depth anchors everything, guaiac wood adds a smoky sweetness, and ambroxan amplifies the skin's own warmth. Longevity is above average, and the fragrance remains present well past the initial hours. The composition reveals itself in layers, each stage offering something distinct from the opening's metallic brightness to the deeper woody warmth that settles close to the skin.
Cultural impact
AM continues the Producer Michael dialogue that PM established, two fragrances that function as a conversation between perfumer and producer. The carbon fibre collector's case and the woody warm spicy composition make this a distinctive presence, though the longevity makes it practical for all-day wear. The fragrance opens with a bold, metallic brightness before settling into woody warmth, and those who connect with the confrontational opening tend to wear it repeatedly, finding new facets with each application.
