The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Isos comes from a Florentine house that has been working with herbs, resins and aromatic botanicals since 1561, when a modest spice and herb shop first opened its doors in the city center. The release year is unrecorded in public databases, but the scent remains in production, and it sits comfortably inside the brand's tradition of herb-and-resin compositions. Isos is a woody spicy built from sources the brand knows intimately: Ceylon clove, Tunisian mint, Madagascar black pepper, guaiac wood, juniper, cedar and vetiver. The mint and clove arrive at the top in counterpoint, a cooling snap folding into warm sweetness, while the pepper sharpens both.
What makes Isos worth a second look is the way it balances its temperature. The opening pairs mint and clove in close succession, and the composition threads black pepper and myrrh through that opening pair, which anchors the sweetness of the clove and gives the mint something to push against. The pepper arrives with a brief, crackling heat that bridges the cool top and the warmer heart, while the myrrh adds a quiet resinous hum underneath.
The evolution
On skin, Isos opens with a bright crack of mint that sits just below mentholated, lifted by clove's warm sweetness within the first few minutes. The clove deepens quickly, turning slightly smoky and resinous as the black pepper activates around the twenty-minute mark. Myrrh and guaiac wood take over the heart, adding a churchy, almost incense-like undertone that softens the spice without dulling it. By the second hour, juniper arrives at the base, giving the composition a gin-like austerity that cuts through everything that came before. Cedar and vetiver settle in as the drydown, dry and green, and the scent eventually fades to a close-to-skin whisper that still reads as woody and clean the next morning. The progression moves steadily from cool and sharp to warm and resinous, and then to a quiet, dry wood, with each phase leaning into the next without a hard break.
Cultural impact
Isos wears like an apothecary's draft brought to life. The mint-and-pepper pairing gives it a sharp, almost bracing quality that suits cooler weather and feels rooted in old-world pharmacy rather than contemporary perfumery trends. The scent leans herbal and resinous rather than sweet or gourmand, and that dryness runs through every phase of the wear. It has the texture of a working scent, something designed to be smelled up close rather than broadcast across a room, and the composition rewards that kind of attention.
