Why it exists.
The beginning
The My Charm series arrived in 2019 as Dzintars' bid for a contemporary women's fragrance line. Elegant was the morning option: not the dramatic entrance, not the late-night whisper, but the hour when you're already out the door and the day hasn't asked anything of you yet. The perfumer reached for cherry blossom and white rose at the heart, layered them over a base of ambergris and oud, materials that anchor the composition and give it presence. The result sits in that comfortable middle ground between formal and casual, between put-together and relaxed. Cherry blossom brings its delicate, slightly almond-tinged floralcy while white rose adds a cleaner, more structured petal note.
What makes the pyramid interesting isn't the individual notes, cherry blossom and white rose are familiar territory, grapefruit is practically default for modern women's fragrance. It's the ambergris and oud in the base that shift the usual structure. Cherry blossom carries that characteristic soft, slightly powdery floralcy that can easily dominate a composition if left unchecked. White rose adds a cleaner petal note that helps distribute the floral impact rather than letting it concentrate in one place. The oud in the base provides a woody counterpoint that keeps everything grounded.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, grapefruit and lemon leaf cutting through with the kind of green freshness that smells like air before it hits skin. The citrus presence is immediate and crisp, giving way quickly as the florals emerge. Cherry blossom takes over, soft and clean, with jasmine sambac adding a slightly indolic warmth that prevents the florals from reading as purely abstract. This middle phase is where the fragrance lives longest, white rose and narcissus playing against the remaining citrus. The florals weave together, each note softening the edges of the others. Then the base arrives. Not dramatically. Ambergris and musk fade in like background music, and the oud becomes more noticeable as everything else quiets down. The warmth of the ambergris keeps the drydown from feeling stark, while the oud adds a quiet woody presence that lingers at the edges.

As part of Dzintars' 2019 My Charm series, Elegant joined a collection designed for different moments and moods. The series represents the house's offering in the modern women's market, with a structure that feels contemporary without abandoning the approach that has defined the brand. Elegant occupies a particular space within that lineup, positioning itself as the everyday option, the one you reach for without thinking too hard about it.
