The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Higo means fig in Spanish. For Campos de Ibiza, it was a chance to work with one of the most recognizable elements of Mediterranean flora. The fragrance moves beyond simple fruit representation, exploring both the verdant quality of the leaves and the deeper character of the tree itself. The composition draws on ingredients native to the island, creating something that feels connected to local tradition rather than detached from it. The goal was never a straightforward fruity fragrance. Instead, Higo aims to capture the spirit of its namesake, translating the essence of the fig into something wearable and nuanced. The result is a scent that balances sweetness with earthiness, brightness with depth, offering a multi-layered experience that rewards attention.
What makes Higo interesting is its internal tension. Fruity sweetness and tropical softness could easily dominate the composition without careful handling. The fig leaf adds a distinctive green quality that prevents the fragrance from becoming one-dimensional. Cedar and mint work alongside this green element, keeping the overall effect grounded rather than allowing it to drift into generic territory. Lavender performs an interesting function in the middle of the composition, connecting the brighter top notes with the deeper base and creating a dry, herbaceous quality that adds complexity.
The evolution
The opening is bright and tart, with citrus, raspberry, and strawberry making their presence felt. Coconut follows, softening the initial sharpness and adding a creamy layer that rounds out the top. The transition happens gradually, fig leaf and lavender emerging to shift the balance from fruity to green and herbal. Cedar provides a weighty undercurrent that supports this evolution. As time passes, the sweetness diminishes and the composition moves into its final phase. The drydown reveals musk and amber forming a gentle base, while a faint green fig tree note remains, settling close to the skin but with enough presence to be noticed. This lingering quality means the fragrance stays with you throughout the day.
Cultural impact
Higo fits comfortably within Campos de Ibiza's botanical focus, joining a collection that includes mandarin, almond blossom, cedar, rose water, jasmine, and fig. The fragrance speaks to the brand's broader philosophy: scent as a way of capturing and communicating place. This approach extends beyond simple ingredient selection to consider how a fragrance can evoke a specific atmosphere and feeling. Higo embodies this ethos, using fig as its anchor while building a composition that suggests the broader context from which it emerges.
