The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Prometheus landed in 2025 as part of Ahmed Al Maghribi's Moon Series, a collection that borrows its thematic register from celestial bodies without ever tipping into the theatrical. The fragrance sits within that framework as a woody-fresh release, and the confidence of the composition is what registers first. There's no performance in Prometheus, no overt announcement of what it's trying to be. Instead, the scent moves with a quiet steadiness, built from a herbal-cool opening that grounds itself quickly into a warm, resinous base. The opening reads green and slightly bitter, artemisia lending its camphoraceous edge while mint keeps the temperature low and breathy. Pink pepper and bergamot add a clean spark at the top, but they don't shout.
What makes Prometheus worth a second look is the tension between its two halves. The top reads herbal and cool, artemisia and mint doing the heavy lifting alongside pink pepper and bergamot, a combination that opens the fragrance with a clean, almost green clarity. That opening doesn't announce itself so much as it sets a frame for what comes after. The base then pulls in a different direction entirely, tonka bean, vanilla, guaiac wood, vetiver, and a double dose of musk, layered underneath a heart of dark chocolate, benzoin, lavender, cedarwood, and patchouli.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong to mint and artemisia, with bergamot cutting the edges clean and pink pepper adding a faint static charge underneath. Juniper threads through it all, dry and resinous, keeping the opening from feeling like a cologne commercial. By the thirty-minute mark the coolness starts to give way, and the heart begins to assert itself. Dark chocolate shows up first, warm and slightly bitter, followed by lavender and benzoin that round out the sharpness. Patchouli sits low here, earthy but restrained, more suggestion than statement. Cedarwood holds the structure together. The two-hour point is where Prometheus settles into its stride: guaiac wood and vetiver form the backbone, tonka bean softens everything from underneath, and vanilla and the musks start their slow takeover. By hour four the chocolate has fully integrated, and what's left is warm skin over cool wood, clean enough for proximity, distinctive enough to register.
Cultural impact
Prometheus sits in an unusual space, a woody-fresh composition that moves away from heavier oriental territory, and that positioning has drawn comparisons to mainstream fresh fragrances like Versace Eros and Polo 67. Wearers describe it as office-friendly with enough character to register past the handshake. It's the kind of scent that gets recognized more than it gets complimented, which suits the brand's philosophy of letting the fragrance speak for itself. Within the Moon Series, it represents the cleaner, greener end of the spectrum, a release that prioritizes clarity and wearability over density.
