The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Royal Cherry emerged from a specific question: what happens when you apply deep knowledge of warm, resinous Arabian perfumery to a fruit note that Western audiences already love? Cherry has universal appeal. The brand had the craft to build something around it that felt substantial rather than simple. The concept merged the accessibility of fruity florals with the depth of oriental base notes, cherry, plum, and almond opening the composition, Turkish rose and jasmine forming a floral bridge, and a warm woody-spicy foundation underneath that includes benzoin alongside cedarwood, sandalwood, and vetiver. The composition was designed to appeal across markets while maintaining the warmth and depth characteristic of Arabian perfumery traditions.
The note structure reveals a deliberate counterbalance. Cherry and plum bring sweetness and juiciness; almond introduces an edge that keeps the opening from feeling naive. The floral heart, jasmine and Turkish rose, adds elegance without sacrificing the fruit-forward character. Then the base: multiple woody materials including cedar, sandalwood, and vetiver layered with gourmand elements like tonka bean and vanilla, warm spice like cinnamon, and resinous depth from benzoin. The result is a fragrance that starts sweet and ends warm.
The evolution
The opening announces itself immediately, juicy cherry, plum's dark sweetness, and that almond nuance all arriving together. The almond note keeps the fruit from smelling like candy, adding a slightly savory edge. This phase continues before the florals begin to complicate things. Jasmine and Turkish rose emerge, their creamy and powdery qualities softening the fruit without replacing it. The cherry doesn't fade, it deepens, becoming part of the floral arrangement rather than separate from it. By the second phase, the base takes over. Tonka bean and vanilla introduce a warm, gourmand sweetness that changes the trajectory of the scent entirely. Cedar and sandalwood provide woody structure. Cinnamon adds warmth. Benzoin brings resinous depth. Vetiver grounds everything with its earthy, slightly smoky character.
Cultural impact
Royal Cherry represents Ahmed Al Maghribi's expansion into compositions with broader international appeal. The cherry-vanilla warmth resonates across GCC markets and international audiences, demonstrating the brand's versatility beyond regional preferences.
