Why it exists.
The beginning
Flor de Guaraná joined Água de Cheiro's Água Fresca line in 2021. Edison Fujita composed the fragrance, working with guaraná as a central note and treating it as a familiar ingredient rather than anything exotic. The composition opens with a bright, juicy burst of pomegranate and peach, the kind of sweet-tart fruitiness that immediately sets a lighthearted mood. As those top notes settle, the heart unfolds through a generous bouquet of cassia, jasmine, and raspberry, with guaraná sitting right at the center of the arrangement. The guaraná note carries a distinctive sweetness that feels closer to a soft, sugared plum than a sharp tropical fruit, giving the composition its own personality.
What makes this composition interesting is how it frames guaraná within a universal fruity-floral architecture. The note sits in the heart alongside cassia, jasmine, and raspberry, surrounded by a pomegranate and peach top and grounded in sandalwood and patchouli. Rather than isolating guaraná, Fujita weaves it into a network of familiar fruits and woods, letting it blend into the tartness of raspberry and the softness of peach.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are sharp and effervescent. Bergamot lifts everything, pomegranate adds a tart brightness, and peach rounds it into something almost edible. Blackberry sits underneath, giving the opening a darker undertone beneath all that juice. Fifteen minutes in, guaraná starts to show itself. Not as a separate note but as a texture, something faintly nutty and warm weaving through raspberry and cassia. Jasmine arrives quiet, never heady, just a whisper of floral that keeps the fruit from feeling like a dessert course. The transition into the base takes about ninety minutes. Sandalwood arrives first, creamy and blonde. Then vanilla, soft and powdery, not gourmand. Patchouli shows up last, just enough to give the whole thing weight and keep it grounded. What lingers past the four-hour mark is a warm musk-vanilla-sandalwood blend, close to skin, faintly sweet. By hour six it's a memory more than a presence, a warmth you catch when you move your wrist. The bottle will still smell the next morning, but on skin it has finished its conversation.
