The note architecture is unusual in how deliberately it resists categorisation. Water lily sits in the top accord, an aquatic note rarely found in white floral compositions, which tend toward richness rather than clarity. Broom adds a green, slightly bitter herbal quality that Mediterranean natives will recognise from hillside walks. The heart layers jasmine and tuberose together, a pairing that could easily tip into opulence, but the orange blossom and lily of the valley keep everything airy. The black pepper in the heart is the quiet subversive element, adding warmth and spiced depth that prevents the florals from reading as purely delicate.

The evolution

The opening arrives quickly: citrus brightness from bergamot, then the unexpected cool of water lily. The aquatic note surprises, it's present but brief, maybe thirty minutes, before the white florals claim everything. The heart takes over for the next several hours. Jasmine and tuberose are the loudest voices here, with rose and magnolia filling out the middle. The black pepper adds warmth without heat. Then the drydown: moss and cedar emerge, grounding the florals with something earthy and distinctly Mediterranean. Amber and white musk soften the base, extending the drydown for another few hours.
