The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Mediterranea collection arrived in 2025 as a triptych of Mediterranean moods. Riviera, EssenzaMare, and Stella, each one a different angle on the same light and water. EssenzaMare draws from that particular part of a voyage when the coast is a slender line and the horizon is still open. The power of water. The freedom of the open sea. And the moment before arrival, when land is still a promise. That threshold is the entire concept.
What makes EssenzaMare interesting is the tension between its opening and its base. The top notes, bergamot, lemon, sea salt, arrive with cold mineral clarity. That is the sea. But the white florals in the heart prevent it from staying cold. Jasmine, lily of the valley, water lily: they soften the mineral into something warmer than a typical aquatic. Then the driftwood and cashmeran in the base push it further toward warmth. This is not a fragrance that stays at the shoreline. It moves inland. The driftwood and cashmeran add a mineral woodiness that keeps the florals from going sweet or powdery. That is the structural choice that makes it hold up over time rather than disappearing into skin.
The evolution
EssenzaMare opens sharp. Bergamot, lemon, and sea salt hit at once, that cold mineral clarity that reads as ocean air. The citrus keeps it bright for the first hour or so, a clean sharpness that announces itself. Then the white florals take over. Jasmine, lily of the valley, water lily: they do not overpower, but they soften the mineral into something warmer and more intimate. The transition is gradual, the salt fades, the florals bloom. By the third hour, the driftwood and cashmeran are establishing themselves. The drydown is warm, skin-close, and lingering. Cashmeran adds a soft musk warmth. Driftwood keeps it grounded without going heavy. On most skin types, the base holds through the evening, an intimate warmth that stays close rather than projecting. The next morning, there is still something there: the cashmeran settling into skin, quiet and persistent.
Cultural impact
EssenzaMare is part of the Mediterranea collection, released alongside Riviera and Stella in 2025 as Acqua dell'Elba's most recent expression of their island-to-sea identity. The collection collectively reframes what Mediterranean aquatic can mean, moving beyond the generic fresh-clean aquatic toward something with more warmth, more floral body, and more staying power. EssenzaMare specifically targets the wearer who wants the idea of the sea without the literal salt-blast experience. It is the most floral of the three, and the most intimate in its drydown.
