The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name says it all. 100, not 99, not 101. The number that means done, complete, perfect ratio. In cashmere, that ratio is warmth-to-weight: the softness that costs something to earn. The cashmere accord opens and holds throughout the composition, a material chosen for its inherent sense of comfort. Margaux Le Paih-Guérin structured the composition around a cashmere accord as the opening and backbone. The heart is orris and honeysuckle, a pairing that blooms into something powdery and luminous without ever going dusty. The base is five materials doing quiet work: white musk, sandalwood, vanilla, American cedar, and mangrove wood. Close-to-skin materials. Nothing that shouts.
What makes Cashmere 100 unusual is the cashmere accord itself. The composition centers on this textile-like accord, which brings a distinctive softness that sets the fragrance apart from more conventional opening notes. Orris root brings a powdery violet quality that hydrates rather than dries. Honeysuckle adds a floral sweetness that prevents the powder from going austere. Together they create a heart that feels luminous and calm, like light through a window in a quiet room.
The evolution
The opening is plush. Cashmere accord settles against the skin like a fine knit, warm, soft, immediately intimate. No sharpness, no spice. Just the material. The heart arrives gradually. Honeysuckle and orris bloom into a powdery hush, luminous, hydrated, never dusty. The transition from top to heart feels like a room going quiet rather than a fragrance changing. The floral heart carries the mid-section, unhurried. The drydown is where the five base materials converge. White musk and sandalwood come forward to meet the skin. Vanilla and American cedar add warmth underneath. Mangrove wood adds a woody depth that keeps the finish from going sweet. The sillage stays intimate throughout, close enough to feel, not announced.
Cultural impact
Cashmere 100 arrived in 2025 as part of INSENF's collection, which also includes Château de Velours, All Black, Sun Bleached, Orange Patina, Pink Sweats, and Work Wear. The house presented at Pitti Fragranze 2025, introducing its work to an international audience. Cashmere 100 stands out in the collection for its soft, intimate character, a different approach within a lineup of varied scent profiles.
