The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
1500 belongs to 2020, the year the world learned to measure closeness in millimeters. Social distancing became the defining phrase, the invisible rule that rewrote how humans inhabited shared space. YVRA's founder saw this as an opportunity to explore a fragrance that would command attention in a world suddenly conscious of space and presence. The name reflects that moment, born from a time when the gap between people became a shared language. It's a concept turned into scent, a fragrance that insists on being noticed.
The composition backs up the concept with ingredients that don't ask permission. Cade oil brings a smoky intensity to the opening, a bold and arresting presence that announces itself immediately. Mushroom adds an earthy dimension that grounds the top notes in something deeper and more complex. Together with bitter orange and the transparent freshness of beech wood, the top creates an immediate impression that doesn't ease in gently. It arrives. The osmanthus in the heart is the clever move: a sweet floral that softens the composition without diluting its impact.
The evolution
The opening lands with presence, cade oil's smoky bite meeting the earthiness of mushroom while bitter orange cuts through with clean precision. The mint arrives next, cooling the sharp edges without softening them entirely. This is still a fragrance that knows what it wants. The osmanthus emerges in the heart, adding a fruity sweetness that tempers the intensity just enough to feel considered rather than reckless. The cloves and ylang-ylang settle in alongside it, warmth and creaminess layering over the cooler opening notes. By the later hours, leather takes command of the drydown. Cedar and patchouli follow, their woody depth anchoring everything that came before. The amber adds warmth without sweetness, not a comfortable ending but a lasting one. Above-average longevity on skin, with traces of cedar and smoke remaining the next day.
Cultural impact
The conversation around this fragrance centers on what fragrance is for. In a category where many compositions aim to please and invite, 1500 does something different. It commands space. Wearers find it memorable, an assertion that leaves a lasting impression rather than a forgettable background presence. In that sense, it accomplishes what it sets out to do.
