The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The inspiration is Southern Italy, circa 1950s. La dolce vita. Smoke filled coffee places where conversation lingered over espressos. Candy shops trailing sweetness into cobblestone streets. Sea air that never quite washed the tobacco out of the curtains. The brand wanted to bottle that particular hour, when everything is still warm and possible. The name, Resurrextion, suggests something coming back to life. For the brand's experimental mandate, it was a test: could a fragrance capture the memory of a place without resorting to postcard sentimentality? The answer sits in the pyramid, herbal clarity giving way to sweetness, sweetness giving way to leather and vanilla. A resurrection indeed.
The lavender-chamomile combination is unusual. It reads apothecary at first, the green drawers of an old Italian pharmacy, bitter herbs sorted by hand. But Burlakova wasn't building a medicine. She was building contrast. The bitter orange and petitgrain arrive like Mediterranean sunlight cutting through the herb. Then the heart shifts the register entirely. White tobacco with raspberry and orange blossom. The espresso ritual and the evening sweetness in one breath. Almond and cardamom add an edible quality, almost marzipan, like the candies sold in those old shops, the kind wrapped in colored paper.
The evolution
The first hour is all lavender and chamomile, green, almost astringent, with a slight bitterness that reads almost medicinal. The bitter orange cuts through, bright and sharp. This is the opening phase. Then, gradually, the raspberry emerges. Not jam, something fresher, with a tartness that cuts the cream. The tobacco arrives softly, wrapping around the orange blossom. By the third hour, leather and vanilla have taken over. The vetiver adds a smoky, earthy depth that grounds the composition. Oakmoss and thyme linger in the base, adding an herbal complexity that prevents the vanilla from becoming cloying. The drydown holds for up to seven hours, a quiet, warm presence that stays close to the skin rather than filling the room.
Cultural impact
Resurrextion has earned a devoted following among niche fragrance collectors who appreciate its unusual structure, the turn from herbal to warm sweetness is bold and unexpected. The fragrance's unconventional composition sets it apart from linear scents, appealing to those who seek something that defies easy categorization.
