The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
N° 17 Flor Sensual arrived in 2021 as part of Victorio & Lucchino's Aguas Intensas collection, the brand's line dedicated to water-based and fresh-leaning fragrances that wear close to the skin. Seventeen places it within a numbered catalogue the house has been building, and Flor Sensual signals exactly the territory it's working in, flower at the centre, softness pushed one notch past the usual floral register. The name does what it says, and it does so with a fluency that comes from the perfumer leaning confidently into the floral-gourmand territory rather than skirting it. There's a warmth here that doesn't announce itself with shouting top notes, but instead settles in quietly through a base that wraps rather than grabs.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the conversation between the fruit and the gourmand. Raspberry up top reads bright, almost tart, and praline at the base reads warm, almost caramelised. Between them sits a proper floral cushion: iris, jasmine, rose, orange blossom, the classic quartet that gives the composition its body. Patchouli and benzoin anchor everything in resinous depth, so the sweetness never floats off. It is a structure the brand has used before in different colours, and here it lands in its most confectionery register.
The evolution
The opening is immediate, raspberry and blackcurrant pulling ahead of the citrus, the bergamot and mandarin providing lift without ever dominating. That fruit brightness begins to soften as iris and orange blossom move into position, the jasmine staying politely in the background rather than reaching for the spotlight. The rose settles into the centre and the praline starts its slow creep up from the base, lending a milky, almost-nutty warmth that rewrites the entire composition as the hours pass. The drydown is where N° 17 reveals its truest mood: vanilla, benzoin, and patchouli holding the praline in place, the fruit now just a memory and the florals reduced to skin-warmed suggestion. The vanilla-praline base is what lingers longest, holding close to the skin with a resinous sweetness that feels like the memory of a fragrance rather than its current presence.
Cultural impact
Within the Aguas Intensas collection, N° 17 Flor Sensual reads as one of the more confectionery-leaning options, a composition that takes the floral register and pushes it gently into gourmand territory through its praline heart. The interplay between rose and praline gives the fragrance a particular softness, one that feels designed for everyday wear rather than special occasion dressing. It sits comfortably in the category of fragrances that find their audience through approachability, the kind of scent that becomes a signature precisely because it doesn't demand attention but rewards repeated wearing.
