Goetze Gegenwart was composed in 2016 by perfumer Mark Buxton. The composition wears like a tailored look with a relaxed collar. Green-spicy at first reading, floral underneath, then a dry, leathery close that refuses to sweeten itself into mass appeal. It is a fragrance designed for someone who treats fragrance as part of getting dressed, not as a separate accessory layered on top. Buxton's hand shows in the careful calibration between aromatic brightness and grounded, earthy weight. Nothing in the structure feels accidental. Each phase serves the next, moving from the lift of citrus and spice into something contemplative, then settling into leather and wood with conviction. The drydown lingers well into the next day, with the leather and cedar surviving longest into the following morning.
