The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lucia is Tocca's tribute to the Italian tradition of dolce far niente, the art of doing nothing at all and enjoying every second of it. Named for a radiant muse who lives entirely in the moment, this fragrance captures something specific: the pleasure of a sun-soaked afternoon where nothing urgent is expected. Perfumer Nicole Mancini Issaq built Lucia around fig and vetiver, two materials that carry weight without heaviness. The result is a fragrance that opens with bright citrus sparkle before settling into the quiet depth of the garden. Fig brings a green, slightly watery quality while vetiver anchors everything in earthy warmth. Lucia isn't about making an entrance. It's about the hours after everyone else has left.
What makes this composition work is the fig. It has a green, slightly watery quality, like the inside of a fig leaf when you tear it open. Tocca pairs it with rose water, an upcycled material that adds a soft, almost transparent floral note without tipping into sweetness. The citrus at the top, Italian lemon Orpur and grapefruit, gives the opening its sparkle and brightness. Then the vetiver and cedarwood arrive, grounding the fig and keeping it from floating away entirely.
The evolution
The citrus opens sharp and immediate, lemon oil Italy Orpur and grapefruit arrive together, all brightness and acidic sparkle. No pretense. The fig and rose water take over, softening the composition into something garden-green and floral. The transition isn't dramatic. It's like watching the light change in the late afternoon. The drydown arrives quietly: cedarwood and fig wood wrapping around the vetiver, the tobacco barely there but doing essential work, keeping the whole thing warm and close to the skin. The fig and vetiver linger longest, green, woody, the scent of someone who stayed at the party after everyone else left.
Cultural impact
The fig and vetiver combination creates a woody-fruity profile that feels both grounded and elegant. Tocca's approach to Lucia emphasizes accessibility and balance, making a fragrance that works equally well for everyday moments and more considered occasions. The interplay of green fig, soft rose water, and earthy vetiver gives this scent a distinctive character that sits comfortably alongside the brand's other offerings.
