Why it exists.
The beginning
Cas Attar draws its name from a star, the one called Cas, meaning "the hand of God," a body of variable brightness that hides from careless eyes and reveals itself only to those patient enough to look. Paolo Terenzi built this composition as part of the Luna Star Attar line, a sibling collection to his celebrated Cassiopea. Where Cassiopea presented the olfactory pyramid in its established form, Cas Attar takes that same arrangement and breaks it down, reconstructing the architecture through what the sources describe as new harmonious and stylistic balances. Launched in 2017, it treats its source constellation as a kind of permission. If the wearer has the spirit to see rather than glance, the fragrance opens accordingly. If not, it stays guarded.
What separates Cas Attar from the broader oud-rose field is its insistence on pepper, not as garnish but as architecture. Black pepper and pink pepper frame the rose, giving it bite before the flower fully arrives. Then bell pepper reappears in the heart, a vegetal green note that opens a register most rose-oud compositions don't explore, and it does work that keeps the composition from collapsing into sweetness. The birch and the oud share space in the heart as well, and the birch's smoky character sits alongside the oud's resinous depth in a way that shapes how the rose migrates downward.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, almost brusque. Black pepper and pink pepper arrive together, sharpened by rose that's still cold and hasn't yet decided what it wants to be. The early phase belongs to that friction, the floral sweetness pushing against the spice heat, neither winning. As the composition settles, bell pepper creeps in with a vegetal snap, then birch wood and oud take the wheel. The transition feels deliberate, like someone dimming the overhead lights. The rose doesn't disappear here. It migrates underneath, staining the woods and the leather-smoke of birch with something darker and more animalic than it started. The ambergris arrives in the late phase, bringing a salt-warmth that softens the oud's edges without domesticating it. The drydown is the part most people remember.

Cas Attar sits inside the Luna Star Attar collection, a side of Tiziana Terenzi's catalog that builds from the same rose-oud-amber vocabulary as the brand's flagship Cassiopea but restructures it for a more concentrated, more architectural reading. The attar format itself, shared across the Luna Star line, signals a certain kind of wearer, someone drawn to the intensity and the projection that the concentration delivers. Cas Attar carries the pepper-forward opening, the bell pepper interruption, the birch and oud handshake in the heart, and the ambergris-muski-vanilla base as a complete statement rather than a suggestion.
