The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Swiss Arabian's Heritage Collection houses the house's most intentional work. Angéline Leporini structured it around a familiar warmth: tobacco, honey, vanilla. The cumin shifts the opening in an unexpected direction. Plum and apple keep it friendly. The honey sweeps in and softens everything. The ylang-ylang adds a creamy floral dimension that keeps the tobacco from getting heavy. The result is warm without being heavy, sweet without being one-note. Soft woods in the base extend the wear with a quiet intimacy.
The combination of tobacco and honey creates a familiar warmth that Leporini builds on rather than relies on. The cumin interrupts with a savory, aromatic presence before the honey sweeps in and softens everything. Ylang-ylang adds a creamy floral dimension that keeps the tobacco from getting heavy. The result is warm without being heavy, sweet without being one-note. Soft woods in the base are the quiet foundation, giving the drydown a soft woodiness that extends the wear without announcing itself.
The evolution
The opening hits fast. Plum and apple arrive bright and juicy. Pink pepper flakes a little heat across the top. Then the cumin pushes through, not aggressive but present, adding a savory note that cuts the sweetness sideways. Within minutes, the heart takes over: labdanum's resinous warmth, amber's golden glow, patchouli's earth. The tobacco arrives as the fruity top notes begin to recede, creating a warm honey-vanilla-tobacco blend that settles close to the skin. The drydown extends with soft woods and musk keeping it intimate, never loud, never gone.
Cultural impact
Tobacco 01 sits in the sweet oriental category without behaving like one. It favors warmth, fruit, and a distinctive spice note that sparks conversation. The cumin presence is notable, creating an aromatic spike that cuts the sweetness sideways. Among comparable releases, this one earns attention by offering something that feels both familiar and surprising.
